August 10, designated as Carnegie Day by the City of Gaithersburg, was a day of learning, tasting and giving back at The Carnegie at Washingtonian Center. We celebrated the occasion with a series of events that brought together our Founding Members, Signature Partners and the local community.
The festivities started on a high note with a coffee tasting session led by our Signature Partner, Rustic Route Coffee Company. After tasting several extraordinary locally crafted blends, our Founding Members had the unique opportunity to vote on their choice for The Carnegie’s Signature Coffee blend. The chosen blend will be exclusive to The Carnegie and will be available for purchase in our market when we open next year. It was an exciting process, and we can’t wait for everyone to taste the winning blend!
After waking everyone up with a jolt of caffeine, our next event featured an enlightening talk by Dan Sherman, PhD, a Cornell-educated economist who also happens to be an opera and musical theatre enthusiast. Dan has taught more than 25 courses with the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Johns Hopkins University, and we were thrilled to have him at The Carnegie to share his expertise. His talk, “We’ll Always Have Paris: Celebrating Casablanca at 80”, was a hit among the attendees.
The third event of the day was an informative session on Long-Term Care Insurance and Financial Planning, led by Raquel Micit, owner of Amada Senior Care. Raquel’s commitment to excellent customer service and attention to detail shone through in her remarks, especially during the Q&A session when she provided thorough answers and explanations to each query.
We wrapped up Carnegie Day with a fun-filled painting session for the whole family. The little ones enjoyed snacks while expressing their creativity by painting a Little Free Library, one of three that will eventually be donated to the City of Gaithersburg. It was truly heartwarming to see the children’s enthusiasm and their eagerness to give back to the community.
Thanks to all of our participants, Carnegie Day was a resounding success, filled with engaging activities that catered to all ages. We are grateful for the participation of Founding Members like you, as well as our Signature Partners and the local community. We look forward to hosting more such events in the future!
