The Kennedy Center
Our partnership with The Kennedy Center focuses on the intersection of music and wellness, creating a one-of-a-kind collaboration between the National Symphony Orchestra, the National Institute of Health, and Empower Me. Sound Health Fridays at The Carnegie will center on supporting those with cognitive impairment by blending music therapy, memory care best practices and occupational therapy.
In addition, our rotating Art Gallery at The Carnegie will host works from the exclusive VSA Art Collection at The Kennedy Center, featuring a wide range of art from children’s creations to Andy Warhol. The Carnegie Club Membership will provide unique privileges at The Kennedy Center for our residents, including VIP tours and dinners at the Roof Terrace Restaurant.
International Spy Museum
The International Spy Museum (SPY) holds the largest collection of international espionage artifacts on public display. Spy with Me is an interactive experience for older adults living with dementia and their care partners, where SPY creatively incorporates music and artifacts to explore historical spy stories.
The Carnegie partnered with SPY to bring exclusive behind-the-scenes VIP opportunities, where residents will gain special access and privileges as part of this unique collaboration – another exclusive opportunity brought to you by our Signature wellness programming.
Library of Congress
The Library of Congress is the nation’s oldest federal cultural institution, and it serves as the research arm of Congress. FLOC Membership privileges for The Carnegie will provide access to exclusive events, keynote speakers, and unique educational experiences to participate in hands-on lifelong learning.
In collaboration with The Carnegie’s Technology Lounge, residents will have the opportunity to work with FLOC to assist with digitizing records, including rare historical documents like John F Kennedy’s Journal and the Veterans History Project which focuses on archives of the Vietnam War.
Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at John Hopkins University
The Carnegie’s collaboration with the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Johns Hopkins University centers around intellectual growth and exploration, one of the nine dimensions of wellness we seek to provide to our residents.
When open, OLLI’s new location at The Carnegie will allow residents convenient access to a full calendar of workshops, lectures, and educational activities that contribute to their overall well-being.
The Smithsonian Insitution
The Carnegie is currently working with the Smithsonian Institution to provide membership privileges and be part of their traveling exhibit program, SITES. This nationally recognized initiative strengthens connections between the Smithsonian and communities to inspire a deeper understanding of our world and how it can be changed for the better.
As part of our rotating gallery and lecture series, this unique partnership with The Carnegie will allow residents to experience art history in a more immersive way for continuous education and cultural appreciation.

As part of our commitment to stimulating all of the senses, The Carnegie at Washingtonian Center proudly collaborates with Fig & Fire, a natural candle company renowned for their safer, high-quality offerings. Inspired by Gaithersburg’s unique charms and The Carnegie lifestyle, Fig & Fire is developing an exclusive fragrance designed to enhance residents’ overall sense of luxury and well-being.
Gaithersburg Book Festival
One of the nation’s top literary events, the Gaithersburg Book Festival is near and dear to The Carnegie thanks to the extraordinary impact we believe literature has on society. Conceptualized in 2010 by Mayor Jud Ashman, the Gaithersburg Book Festival celebrates the written word through its mission of fostering an interest in reading, writing, and literary conversation within the community.
Each year, a core committee of city staff and dedicated volunteers carefully plans and oversees the execution of the festival, attracting hundreds of award-winning and best-selling authors, poets, and songwriters from across the country.

Created by a Bethesda mother-daughter team, Sarah and Annie Park, this local artisan proudly serves small-batch, locally sourced ice cream made with natural ingredients. Sarah and her team have been dedicated to community engagement and service.
From ice cream donations, fundraiser partnerships, and book drives, Sarah’s Handmade is an enthusiastic supporter of St Jude’s Hospital, National Institute of Children’s Inn, local high schools, and many other worthwhile causes. It’s no wonder they achieved the honor for Best of Bethesda. The Carnegie will be the proud home to one of the only a few select locations in the DMV area.
