Andy Kohlberg

Andrew S. Kohlberg is the Founder, President and CEO of Kisco Senior Living, LLC. Mr. Kohlberg’s primary responsibilities are strategic planning and capital allocation. Through his timely purchase and development of well-located senior living communities, Kisco has assembled a unique portfolio of assets.

Under his direction, a superb management team has been assembled in specialized areas such as human resources, marketing, sales, risk management, care services and dining. He personally conducts focus groups with residents and staff to improve resident loyalty and associate engagement.

Mr. Kohlberg attended the University of Tennessee and has completed advanced studies at the University of California San Diego in real estate economics and feasibility analysis, commercial real estate development, fundamentals of construction and legal aspects of real estate investment.

He has been a member of the American Senior Housing Association (ASHA), California Assisted Living Association (CALA), and the San Diego Chapter of Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO). In November 2002, the Seniors Housing Council awarded him the SAGE Person of the Year Award for his commitment to the seniors housing industry. In April 2003, he accepted the Icon Award in the Service Enriched Builder/Developer category from the National Association of Home Builders.

Since 2004, Mr. Kohlberg has been an investment partner and Vice Chairman with the Phoenix Suns professional basketball team. He regularly attends basketball games and management meetings.

Prior to joining Kisco, Mr. Kohlberg enjoyed a successful professional tennis career, competing in the semifinals of Wimbledon and quarterfinals of the U.S. Open, was named NCAA Collegiate Player of the Year and was an All American at the University of Tennessee. He represented the United States on the Junior Davis Cup and Sunshine Cup Teams, as well as in the Pan American Games where he won a gold medal.

VP of Operations, Signature Communities

Gene Smallwood

Gene Smallwood provides comprehensive sales support to Kisco Senior Living communities across the portfolio. In this role he provides strategic oversite for community sales teams, supports the digital marketing and social media efforts across both brand and community channels, serves as the partner relationship contact for industry lead/referral agencies, and is tasked with developing partnerships and innovations that keep Kisco’s sales teams among the best in the industry.

Previous to Kisco, Gene held key leadership positions at luxury and lifestyle resorts across the country for over 15 years, having enjoyed careers with Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, Loews Hotels, Two Roads Hospitality, Evolution Hospitality Management and DiamondRock Hospitality Company, a publicly traded real estate investment trust.

Jennifer Pastora

With more than 10 years of senior living management experience and a Bachelor of Science in Human Services from Notre Dame de Namur University, Jennifer is responsible for leading the operations and financial performance at The Carnegie at Washingtonian Center through vision, strategy and business development.
Senior Sales Director

Jen Wood

Jen Wood joins Kisco Senior Living with over 20 years of sales experience, a majority of which consisted of managing various teams and developing their success. Early in her sales career, Jen earned her license to sell life and health insurance in her home state of Pennsylvania to retiring seniors. Jen officially began working in the senior living industry in November 2019 as a Sales and Marketing Director at a CCRC community in Maryland. She has been the recipient of numerous President Club and Sales awards, as well as the coveted Teamwork and Cooperation Award within her various positions. Starting in June of 2022, Jen will step into the role of Senior Sales Director at The Carnegie at Washingtonian Center, where she will continue to enjoy working with seniors who look forward to living a five-star lifestyle at Kisco’s newest Signature community.
Senior Business Development Director

Sam Martin

Sam Martin earned her Master’s in Education from Virginia Tech and spent nearly a decade in education before she joined the Kisco family in 2018. After spending time as a Sales Director at Abbotswood at Irving Park in Greensboro, NC, she was promoted to Business Development Director at Abbotswood and, shortly after, took on Kisco’s other Greensboro community, Heritage Greens. At each of these communities, Sam was pivotal in building relationships and strategic partnerships within the market. In April of 2021, Sam moved to Virginia Beach to become a Senior Sales Director for First Colonial Inn, Kisco’s first senior living community. Sam is excited to become a part of The Carnegie team as a Senior Business Development Director and to cultivate partnerships that further enhance The Carnegie experience for future residents.
Sales Coordinator

Courtney Heyboer

Courtney Heyboer is a native of Hershey, Pennsylvania, the Sweetest Place on Earth. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Susquehanna University followed by her Master’s degree from American University. She spent six years working in the Membership Department of Chief Executives Organization, a luxury travel and education membership organization in Washington, D.C. and had the amazing opportunities to travel to Saudi Arabia, Korea, and Japan. Courtney became a Move-in Coordinator at a senior living community in Maryland. She is excited to bring her experience to Kisco Senior Living and The Carnegie at Washingtonian Center as a Sales Coordinator.
