Health and wellness take on a new meaning at The Carnegie at Washingtonian Center, located just outside our Nation’s Capital in the heart of Gaithersburg, Maryland. The Kisco Signature community team developed a wellness experience that will provide residents with a multifaceted environment designed to improve every community member’s physical and emotional wellbeing. This commitment to wellness defines The Carnegie’s enriched lifestyle and state-of-the-art programming. The community offers a wide range of activities and programs, tailored to meet the needs and interests of their residents, to enhance and empower their level of independence.

“At The Carnegie, we believe healthy aging is not just about adding years to life, but about adding life to years,” said Jennifer Pastor, General Manager of The Carnegie. “Our commitment to wellness goes beyond mere amenities; it’s about cultivating an environment where our residents can thrive physically, emotionally, and socially. Through purposeful programming and a supportive community, we empower our residents to embrace a vibrant lifestyle that enhances their independence and enriches their overall wellbeing.”

Upon opening its doors this summer, residents of the community will immediately have access to resources that aid and encourage them to take charge of their health. This includes access to premium amenities, such as chef-prepared meals to be enjoyed in one of several indoor and al fresco dining venues; an indoor heated, salt-water pool; state-of-the-art Fitness Center; wellness spa; and yoga studio. Nutritional focus on brain and heart health is also a critical part of the overall wellness program. Additionally, lifestyle amenities will include one-of-a-kind areas of interest, such as a lecture hall for ongoing local educational programming, a computer learning center, a curated art gallery, a cooking demonstration kitchen, and an outdoor landscaped park with a trail leading to Malcolm King Park.

Designed to address all dimensions of wellness, nutrition, and motivation, residents are encouraged to engage in The Art of Living Well® The Carnegie. This holistic approach is in alignment with Kisco’s over 30 years of experience in cultivating a life of intellectual enrichment, purpose-filled independence, and meaningful connections for every resident.

“At The Carnegie, our Art of Living Well programming empowers residents to prioritize holistic wellness,” said Amanda McPherson, Art of Living Well Director for The Carnegie. “Whether we are focused on chef-prepared brain and heart-healthy meals or invigorating yoga sessions, we provide a comprehensive framework for healthy aging. We inspire fulfilling lives rich in purpose and vitality through personalized programming and premium amenities.”
